Of course technology has changed our lives for the better. Cell phones have brought us closer, TVs have brought in global awareness, and refrigeration has enhanced food quality and reduced wastage. Air conditioning has reduced the harmful effects of pollution besides creating a proper living environment for us. Music, home theater, computers, and similar equipments, improve the quality of our lives. But, does not technology harm us as well?
Broadly speaking technology and manufacturing processes pollute the environment and may harm our future generations. But, specifically for children who need to be nurtured to improve their creativity, TV viewing should be curtailed. Video games take the child away from reality. Internet encourages communication but let’s a child become vulnerable to sexual predators. Using cell phones while driving could be dangerous. Perhaps the answer lies in moderation and monitoring rather than in technology itself.
